“How to enhance the hidden
heritage of museums”
The current project aims to digitise the collections of Genoa’s civic museums. The first step was the creation of an online cataloguing platform, with the aim of making the catalogued records accessible to the public through a dedicated frontend platform.
This extensive project not only facilitates the digitisation of the collections, but also promotes collaboration between the museums, enriching the city’s diverse cultural heritage in a uniform and innovative way. The online catalogue is an ever-evolving system, with some 14158 works already available and a constantly growing number.
Experience has taught me the importance of managing museum archives and the various ways in which they can be enhanced. I also honed my communication and training skills by working directly with the curators of the museums involved. A project of this scale offered me the opportunity to better understand sustainability and its replicability.
